THIS STORY HAS BEEN UPDATED: A 52-year-old man was shot in Pierce County this morning after parking up the road from the house of a man he wanted to confront about having an affair with his wife, sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer said.

The victim, who was shot at least twice, was taken to St. Joseph Medical Center in serious condition. Investigators are questioning the 55-year-old shooter, who is reportedly cooperating.

The incident happened about 9:10 a.m. outside a home on Canyon Road and 92nd Street East.

Troyer said deputies were called to the house Sunday by the victim’s wife and the shooter, who reported that the victim had been harassing them.

On Monday morning, the couple spotted the man’s car parked up the street. The woman took her children and left the home because she was afraid, Troyer said. Her boyfriend then grabbed his gun and went looking for the husband.

He found him park on a dead-end street about 100 yards away and opened fire when the husband, who was on crutches, began getting out of his car, Troyer said.

The shooter was not arrested. Troyer said detectives would be forwarding the case on to prosecutors for a possible charging decision.
