Child drowns at White River campground

A young boy drowned Saturday night at the White River campground, according to Pierce County Sheriff’s Det. Sgt. Jerry Bates.

Mount Rainier National Park rangers pulled the boy from the river and started CPR, he said.

The child was about 7 years old, Bates said.
