UPDATE: Pierce County Prosecutor Mark Lindquist just confirmed that the man arrested in Fife this morning is a potential suspect in the Nov. 12 fatal shooting of Jaime Diaz-Solis in Lakewood. Lindquist added that the investigation is ongoing, but charges could be filed as soon as Monday.

EARLIER: Law enforcement teams from Lakewood, Fife and the Washington State Patrol arrested a man in Fife this morning who might be tied to a 2012 homicide in Lakewood.

Which homicide? Unclear. Information is still sketchy; the Fife Police Department is referring inquiries to the Lakewood Police Department. Lakewood Police spokesman Jeff Alwin referred inquiries to the Pierce County Prosecutor’s office.

“Our Metro SWAT was there to pick up a guy,” Alwine said. “The Pierce County Prosecutor said they want to handle the press release on this.”

Calls to the prosecutor’s office came up empty; no press release, no plans to send one today. The most recent reported unsolved homicide in Lakewood dates to Nov. 12. Jaime Diaz-Solis, 32, was shot in the torso at the Greenwood Apartments. At the time, Lakewood Police said drug trafficking might have played a role in the incident, but they made no arrests.

As of this morning, no public statements connect the Nov. 12 shooting to today’s arrest in Fife.

We’ll update this story as more information emerges.
