Crews with East Pierce Fire & Rescue were forced to cut open a pickup to rescue the driver following a wreck Friday near Buckley.
The crash occurred about 6 p.m. in the 26300 block of Sumner-Buckley Highway when the pickup ran into the back of a silage truck, firefighters said.
Crews closed the highway for about 30 minutes while they extracted the pickup’s driver.
“It required a fairly lengthy extrication to remove the drive,” battalion chief Jay Adams said.
The driver and passenger of the pickup were taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries, firefighters said.
The driver of the silage truck was not hurt.
Pierce County sheriff’s deputies are investigating the cause of the crash.
