A 2-year-old boy who died from injuries police say he suffered when his mother accidentally ran him over Saturday has been identified as Hazayah Ward of Tacoma by the Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Hazayah’s mother was backing out of her driveway near South 87th and South Alaska streets about 11:40 a.m. when she unknowingly ran over the boy, who was later pronounced dead at Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital, police said.

Police investigators are still working to determine the exact circumstances of the accident, spokesman Naveed Benjamin said.
