A 19-year-old man is in critical condition and is on his way to a Seattle hospital after rescue crews pulled him from Lake Easter in Federal Way, South King Fire & Rescue Assistant Chief Gordon Olson said.

A witness told crews that the man took off his shirt and entered the water of the private, residential lake.

“We don’t know yet why or what conditions caused him to start struggling, but she called 911 and we responded,” Olson said from the scene just after 4 p.m.

South King surface water rescue swimmers searched the lake and brought the man to shore, after he had been under for between 25 and 30 minutes.

They revived his heart, and he was transported to the hospital in critical condition, Olson said.
