Officers seen along Custer Road West tonight were likely part of a Lakewood police effort to surrounded a house about 5:15 p.m. in the 6200 block of 79th Street West.
Lt. Chris Lawler said an ongoing dispute between neighbors ended when friends of one of the neighbors arrived, one allegedly with a pistol and the other with a rifle. One pointed a firearm at the opposing party and told the person to leave their friends alone, Lawler said.
When officers arrived, the suspects were gone. The victim said they were in the home, but when officer surrounded it none of the four people found inside were the suspects, Lawler said.
However, one of the suspects returned to the area and was taken into custody for investigation of unlawful possession of a firearm and intimidation/brandishing of a weapon capable of producing bodily harm, according to police.
Officers are still investigating.
