A law enforcement pursuit of a stolen vehicle ended in a crash in the 2100 block of 112th Street South, Pierce County Sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer said.
A man and woman were in the stolen truck that crashed, Troyer said. No other cars were involved in that wreck, he said.
He said the woman was taken into custody right away, and that the man was taken into custody after emergency crews extricated him from the wreck. Both are being evaluated for minor injuries.
Troyer said a deputy stopped the truck by intentionally hitting the back of the vehicle, which caused the truck to roll into the ditch.
Prior to the final crash, Troyer said the suspects crashed into a curb at 112th Street East and Portland Avenue East, where the pursuit started, and lost a tire. The truck continued driving on its rim, and ran several other vehicles off the road before the final crash, Troyer said.
A deputy that specializes in auto crimes recognized the truck as a type that has been the subject of a recent rash of thefts, which prompted the initial pursuit, Troyer said.
