A Tacoma man riding his motorcycle died Saturday after a Gig Harbor woman driving a BMW crossed the center line about 7:15 p.m. in the 2800 block of East Bay Drive Northwest and hit him head-on, according the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department.

The 69-year-old man was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead after the crash south of Gig Harbor. He was identified by the Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office as Alex Heinz.

The woman, 71, was taken to the hospital for injuries, and is expected to be okay, Sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer said.

Deputies don’t believe drugs or alcohol were involved, but are waiting for test results to confirm, he said.
