Emergency crews are at the scene of a car-van crash  at South 277th Street and South Star Lake Road.

The crash about 5:45 p.m. sent 9 people to the hospital, one of whom is in serious condition, according to Kent Fire. The eight others were taken to the hospital with injuries that were not life threatening, Capt. Kyle Ohashi said. One of those eight is an infant, he said.

Ohashi said the King County Sheriff’s Office is investigating what caused the crash between the sedan carrying two people and the van carrying a church group. Both occupants of the sedan and seven of the van were taken to the hospital. It wasn’t immediately clear how many people had been in the van at the time of crash, Ohashi said.

South 277th Street will be closed for several hours at the scene as crews investigate.

Further details were not immediately available.
