From the catch-up file:
Three Puyallup police officers and a police dog were injured last week while trying to arrest a suspected car thief.
The incident unfolded the night of May 15 after a car stolen from Seattle was abandoned in a bank parking lot at South Meridian and 14th Street SW.
Witnesses saw a woman flee the vehicle, which had just been involved in a hit-and-run collision in South Hill.
Arriving officers spotted the woman on the balcony of a nearby motel and went to question her. While interviewing the woman, a man jumped out at officers, sprayed one with pepper spray and ran for the stolen car.
Police broke out a car window to prevent the man from leaving. He was hit with a taser gun several times while struggling with officers, who eventually got him under control.
Deputy Chief Dave McDonald said an officer suffered a wrist injury during the scuffle, one was hurt by the pepper spray and a third officer and police dog were cut on broken glass from the car window.
