A motorcade will escort the body of a Tacoma firefighter from Mountain View Funeral Home in Lakewood to Sea-Tac Airport tonight.

Albert Nejmeh, 59, died on-duty Tuesday of an apparent heart attack while on scene of a medical emergency. He worked for the department 12 years.

Nejmeh’s body, accompanied by fellow firefighter Dan Stevens, is being flown to his hometown in New Jersey.

The escort is set to leave at 7:30 p.m. It will pass by Station 8 on South Alaska Street, where Nejmeh worked on Ladder 2.

Nejmeh will be buried Monday. A public memorial service is scheduled for 1 p.m. May 31 at the Tacoma Dome Convention Center.
