Pierce County sheriff’s deputies on Friday recovered the body of a man who slipped under water while tubing behind a boat at Spanaway Lake earlier this month.

Sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer said someone spotted the body of Salavador John Sanchez, 55, floating in the lake about 1 p.m. Deputies brought the body to shore about two hours later and turned it over to the Medical Examiner’s Office, Troyer said.

Sanchez, who lived in Spanaway, went missing May 5 after the tube he and two others were riding on flipped over, deputies said. None of the riders were wearing life jackets. The other riders survived after someone on the boat that had been pulling them threw life jackets to them, deputies reported.
