Tacoma firefighters will today escort the body of their fallen comrade, Albert Nejmeh, from the Medical Examiner’s Office to Mountain View Memorial Park in Lakewood.

Officials said it is not a formal procession, rather a “respectful movement” of the body.

Nejmeh, 59, died on-duty Tuesday of an apparent heart attack while working at the scene of a medical emergency incident.

Five rigs will accompany Nejmeh’s body from the ME’s Office, past two fire stations and to Mountain View Memorial Park at 4100 Steilacoom Blvd SW.

Several off-duty firefighters are expected to participate in a show of respect for the 12-year fire veteran.

He was assigned to Ladder 2, which worked out of Station 8 at 4911 S. Alaska St.

Nejmeh’s body will be flown to New Jersey this weekend for burial. Tacoma firefighters have not yet announced plans for a local memorial service.
