The suspected robber gave Tacoma police the wrong name, but the nurse at Pierce County Jail recognized him.

He’s the guy who “always eats stuff to get sent to the hospital,” according to court records.

When the 26-year-old man was booked into jail Monday after allegedly robbing a couple walking down the street, he warned the nurse he had just ingested several grams of heroin and cocaine.

Authorities brought the man to Tacoma General Hospital to be checked out. While there, the man bit off a large piece of heart monitoring equipment. It will cost $120 to replace the damaged equipment.

Prosecutors have charged the man with second-degree robbery, third-degree malicious mischief and giving false information to an officer.
