Michael A. Hanson and Connie L. Shook were the Pierce County residents killed Saturday when the motorcycle they were riding collided with a car in Mason County, the Washington State Patrol reported today.

Hanson, 48 of Graham, and Shook, 50 of Spanaway, were aboard a 2006 Harley-Davidson that ran head-on into a 2005 Nissan Murano on U.S. 101 about 27 miles north of Shelton, troopers said. Both were wearing helmets but died at the scene. Hanson was driving.

The driver of the Murano, a 64-year-old Oregon man, is under investigation for “improper lane travel,” the State Patrol said.

He was headed south on the highway when he crossed the center line and hit the motorcycle, troopers said.
