Kent Police are investigating the circumstances of an early morning collision that left a male driver dead and injured his passenger.

According to Kent Police, the accident occurred at about 4 a.m. in the 9200 block of South 208th Street, when the man drove off the road in the middle of the block and struck a tree.

Kent Police worked along with fire and medic crews to revive and stabilize the driver, but they were unsuccessful. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The male passenger was transported to a nearby hospital where he is being treated for unspecified injuries.

Police investigators said they found no indication that alcohol or drugs were a factor. They also found no evidence that speed or recklessness contributed.
