At a recent birthday party at a Bonney Lake apartment, authorities said they arrested two dozen underage drinkers.

Neighbors tipped off the Tacoma-Pierce County DUI and Traffic Safety Task Force April 6 after seeing large groups of youths coming and going from the apartment in the 8400 block of Locust Avenue.

Officers conducted surveillance on the apartment before breaking up the birthday party and arresting 24 people for being a minor in possession.

Among those arrested were a woman with alcohol poisoning, a drunk man who insisted he could drive home and a woman who lied to police, according to the task force.

“With a beer pong table set-up on the kitchen table and party favors consisting of Everclear, orange juice and marijuana, it appears we shut this party down before anyone really got hurt,” said Sumner police Sgt. Matt Kurle, who supervises the task force.
