Pierce County prosecutors today charged a Tacoma man with prostituting a teenage girl he advertised on Backpage.com.

Clifton Eskridge III, 30, is set to be arraigned this afternoon on one count of promoting commercial sexual abuse of a minor.

Detectives with the South Sound Child Exploitation Task Force saw the 15-year-old girl’s photo online and arranged to meet her at a Lakewood home Monday. They watched her arrive in a BMW driven by Eskridge.

She told authorities she met Eskridge on Facebook and had been living with him since January, according to charging papers. The teen estimated she went on 2 to 5 “dates” daily and gave all her money to Eskridge, who allegedly kept it in a safe in his bedroom.

When police stopped Eskridge, they said a 16-year-old girl he was prostituting was in his car. The girl was listed as a runaway, Lakewood police Lt. Chris Lawler said.
