UPDATED: Man dies after being struck by Amtrak train in Auburn

UPDATE: The man was identified as 25-year-old Oleg Agapov by the King County Medical Examiner’s Office, which ruled his death an accident.

INITIAL POST: A man died in Auburn Monday night after being struck by an Amtrak passenger train, police said.

The accident occurred about 9 p.m. in the 200 block of West Main Street as the man tried to cross the tracks.

Witnesses told police the man appeared to be drunk. The crossing arms were down at the time of the collision, Commander Mike Hirman said.

It’s unknown how many people were aboard the northbound train.

The man has not yet been identified.
