Fire at Tacoma plywood manufacturing company caused $350,000 in damages

A fire at a Tacoma plywood manufacturing facility caused about $350,000 in damages, mostly to the company’s machinery, the Fire Department reported.

Investigators are trying to determine the cause.

It started about 2:30 p.m. at 2920 South Cushman Ave. Crews arrived to find heavy smoke coming from the plywood manufacturing facility and immediately doused the blaze, which started on a plywood laminating machine.

No one was injured.
