Local clergy will hold a spiritual ceremony this afternoon for a 2-year-old Tacoma boy allegedly killed by his mother’s boyfriend.

The Moment of Blessing for Chayson Colley will be held at noon outside the Commencement Terrace apartments, 29 St. Helens Ave. The public is invited.

Pierce County prosecutors said the boy had a high blood-alcohol level and head-to-toe injuries that killed him shortly after he was brought to a hospital Saturday. The boyfriend of Chayson’s mother has been charged with murder and rape in the case.

The Associated Ministries sponsors the Moment of Blessing ceremonies at locations in Pierce County where homicides have occurred. The ceremonies are intended to provide support for the victims’ families, friends and the community where the crime took place.
