Local clergy will gather this morning for a short spiritual ceremony in honor of Donald Phily, who was shot to death at a Tacoma motel early Friday.

Bamboo poles with red and purple ribbons will mark the gathering spot at the Morgan Motel, 7031 Pacific Ave. The ceremony will be held at 10 a.m.

The public is welcome.

Tacoma police responded to the motel just after midnight Friday and found Phily shot to death in a room. Police said it was a robbery gone wrong.

Three men have been arrested in connection with the shooting.

The Associated Ministries sponsors the Moment of Blessing ceremonies at locations in Pierce County where homicides have occurred. The ceremonies are intended to provide support for the victims’ families, friends and the community where the crime took place.
