After a head-on collision in Bonney Lake in February, Julio Dimas was arrested for his eighth alleged drunken driving incident.
Pierce County prosecutors have charged Dimas, 26, with felony DUI, driving on a suspended license and failure to have ignition interlock device. He has not yet entered a plea to the charges.
Court records show Dimas was convicted of four prior DUIs and arrested on suspicion of drunken driving in Illinois and Indiana.
Sheriff’s deputies arrested him Feb. 23 after a collision in the 18600 block of Rhodes Lake Road East in Bonney Lake. The other driver said Dimas was driving in the wrong lane as he came around a bend in the road and struck a Ford Ranger pickup truck head-on. Dimas’ Pontiac Grand Am rolled backward into a ditch.
Deputies said there was no ignition interlock device on Dimas’ Pontiac, which he is required to have until 2022.
He allegedly refused to take a blood test, claiming he wasn’t driving the car and shouldn’t have to submit to tests.
