A fire that appears to have started in the attic of a Parkland home this afternoon is under control, and investigators are now working to determine what caused it.

Crews were called about 4:25 p.m. to the 1600 block of 116th Street South, Central Pierce Fire & Rescue assistant chief Randy Stephens said.

They arrived to find smoke coming from the attic of the home, and tried to fight the blaze from the roof, Stephens said.

When that didn’t work, firefighters ended up accessing the attic from the inside of the single-family home.

No one was injured.

The deputy fire marshal is on the scene investigating the fire’s cause and origin, Stephens said.
