A four-hour SWAT standoff at a Tacoma motel ended early this morning with the arrest of a man wanted for a shooting in Lakewood earlier this month.

Laikeem Green, 26, was booked into Pierce County Jail. He is charged with first-degree assault and unlawful possession of a firearm. A warrant was issued for him last week.

Police say he shot a man Tuesday in the parking lot of an apartment complex in the 5600 block of Boston Avenue Southwest after an argument. Lt. Chris Lawler said investigators have not yet determined what the men argued about but it is likely gang-related.

The victim remains hospitalized in serious condition. He is expected to survive.

A gun police believe Green used in the shooting has been recovered.

After learning that Green was staying at the Calico Cat Motel in Tacoma, 8821 Pacific Ave., police tried to take him into custody. After Green refused to surrender, a SWAT team was called. He allegedly confessed to the shooting once he was taken into custody around 5:30 a.m.
