A Fife man was arrested on suspicion of child assault after his 4-month-old son was found unresponsive in the family’s home this morning.

Tacome firefighters were called to the house in the 6200 block of Park Street about 7 a.m. They took the baby to Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital in Tacoma. The child’s condition was not immediately known.

“After talking to the father, there were some inconsistencies in his story,” Lt. Tom Thompson said.

The father agreed to be interviewed at the police station, where he was arrested. Police said the boy’s mother was cooperating with the investigation.

Thompson declined to discuss the event’s leading up to the boy’s injury because of the ongoing investigation.
