A Puyallup man charged with shooting his son and daughter in the head while they slept will appear in court Monday to face upgraded charges since his son died Thursday.
Michael League will now face two first-degree murder counts and be rearraigned Monday, deputy prosecutor Phil Sorensen said. League pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder earlier this week in the shootings of Danielle Faucett, 43, and Dennis League, 46.
The shootings occurred about 3:30 a.m. Sunday at the family’s Puyallup home. Prosecutors say Michael League used a pillow to muffle the shots because his wife and two young grandsons were also home at the time. He then called 911 to report the shootings, which he claimed were to “get rid of their demons.”
A dispatcher talked him into putting down the .22-caliber Ruger pistol and not shooting himself. He is on suicide watch in Pierce County Jail.
