Dennis League was in critical condition since early Sunday morning when his father allegedly shot him in the head while he slept on the couch in the family’s home in the 1500 block of Fifth Street Southeast. Police say the father also fatally shot League’s sister, 43-year-old Danielle Faucett, while she slept.

Michael League, 69, has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder. Prosecutors said charges will be amended in light of Dennis League’s death.

Michael League called 911 after the shooting and told a dispatcher what he’d done and that his children’s use of drugs and alcohol caused strife in the family.
