UPDATE, 8:57 P.M.: The man surrendered and was taken into custody with minor injuries, Troyer said. When the suspect was assured his two dogs would be taken car of, and that a friend would be outside when authorities took him into custody, he surrendered, Troyer said. No one else was injured.

UPDATE, 6:48 P.M.: Authorities have several of the suspect’s friends speaking to the man on his cell phone, trying to convince him to come out, Troyer said. The suspect has rifles and firearms, and was reportedly firing at residences up and down his street, Troyer said.

UPDATE, 6:27 P.M.:

Authorities fired gas canisters into the home to try to force out the suspect, Troyer said. Some neighbors were evacuated earlier, and those that remained have been asked to stay inside and away from their windows, Troyer said.

UPDATE, 5:45 P.M.: The 67 year old man fired at multiple residences, and pointed the gun at people nearby, but did not fire, Ed Troyer, spokesman for the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department said. It doesn’t appear anyone is hurt, and authorities believe he is alone in the home. They are talking with the gunman trying to convince him to come out of the house, Troyer said.

UPDATE, 4:30 P.M.: Ed Troyer, spokesman for the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department, says, “The gunman is contained inside his residence. He is believed to be armed with multiple firearms and is refusing to come out or to put down his weapons. The SWAT team is en route.”
