The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory, warning that winds could gust up to 50 miles per hour today and tonight.

The advisory is in effect from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. in Tacoma, Olympia, Seattle, Everett, Bremerton, Shelton and Chehalis.

Forecasters said a cold front will move across the area this morning bringing southwest winds of 15 to 30 mph with 50 mph gusts.

Power outages and broken tree branches could accompany the storm, the Weather Service said.

Rain and thunderstorms are expected to last through the night, with possible snow showers before 11 a.m. Thursday. Any powder that falls isn’t expected to stick.

Today’s high is 50.
