A woman who operates a private adult family home in Puyallup has agreed to pay a fine after being reprimanded for allowing animal feces and urine to coat the home’s floor, according to the state Department of Social and Health Services.
Wendy Bell’s fine could be waived if she installs new flooring, the agency said.
Bell is licensed to operate South View Adult Care at 10614 80th Avenue East. The state halted new admissions to the facility after discovering the unsanitary conditions in August 2011.
At that time, an investigator visited the home and was initially refused entry by Bell. She then tried to prevent the investigator from going into the living room.
“Upon entry to the home, the investigator noted a strong, overwhelming odor or urine,” records show.
The state said Bell kept about nine dogs in the home along with the three patients.
