A 17-year-old boy who shoved a campus security guard and wrestled with a Pierce County sheriff’s deputy was struck with a taser and arrested this afternoon, according to the Sheriff’s Department.

The commotion started about 11:15 a.m. at Spanaway Lake High School, 1305 168th Street East.

The teenager was allegedly leaving campus without permission and a security guard confronted him. The teen shoved the security guard to the ground and “started a wrestling match” with the deputy, sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer said.

Troyer said the deputy warned the teenager to stop resisting and hit him with a taser when he refused to comply.

After being checked out by paramedics, the boy was arrested. Deputies said they also found drug paraphernalia on the teen.
