From news partner KIRO-TV:

A student at Federal Way High School was expelled after an unloaded gun was discovered in his backpack Friday, police said.

According to the Federal Way Police Department, there was an accusation that a student brought alcohol to the school.

After a search, police found an unloaded handgun in the student’s locker.

The student was taken into custody and was expelled.

School officials sent a letter home with students Tuesday about the incident.
