A 19-year-old Lakewood man wanted for shooting up a house after a drug deal gone wrong was arrested Tuesday after a month on the run.

Mason Johnson was already charged with one count of drive-by shooting and unlawful manufacturing of a controlled substance. His bail was set at $60,000 Tuesday.

Johnson is one of six people charged in the case.

Pierce County prosecutors said Johnson and some of his friends met someone outside a market to buy marijuana Jan. 6 but were upset when the seller was not who he expected.

As they drove away, the seller allegedly fired at the vehicle Johnson was in, prompting return fire from Johnson and co-defendant Alex Averette.

Two separate gunfights erupted between occupants of the two vehicles as they drove down city streets. Later, Johnson allegedly rounded up more friends to do a drive-by shooting on the seller’s house.

Witnesses told police eight shots were fired at the house in the 8400 block of 99th Street Court Southwest.

The bullets hit the man’s garage door and vehicle. No one was injured.

When officers searched Johnson’s apartment shortly after the drive-by shooting, they said they found marijuana plants, drug paraphernalia, cash, shotgun shells and a stolen semi-automatic handgun.

A 9 mm pistol and a shotgun were also found hidden in the wheel wells of Johnson’s car.
