WHAT WAS THAT: DUI crash takes out four parked cars in Tacoma

I received an email from a reader this morning asking about a collision in Tacoma Monday night:

I was coming home from church last night about 8:30pm and saw fire trucks, ambulances and police cars on 43rd and G St in Tacoma.  From what I could see, a white pickup was smashed, a car was on someone’s lawn, a truck was on the other side of the street almost on someone’s lawn, and two or three parked cars got caught in the melee.  I live one block down and was just curious.

Here’s what happened:

A suspected drunken driver took out four parked cars when he lost control of his vehicle Monday night, Tacoma police said.

The man was driving south on G Street about 9 p.m. when he hit a parked car and lost control of his own vehicle, hitting three more parked cars, police spokeswoman Loretta Cool said.

The man sustained minor injuries and was taken to the hospital. He was cited for the crash and released.
