passmore-stephenA man wanted for nearly two years for stealing 600 pounds of metal from a Tacoma recycling yard has been arrested.

Stephen Passmore, 49, was taken into custody Friday while leaving a Spanaway home. On Monday, he pleaded not guilty to first-degree trafficking in stolen property. Bail was set at $15,000.

A warrant was issued for him in September 2011.

Passmore has been featured on Tacoma-Pierce County Crime Stoppers’ website and Washington’s Most Wanted.

According to charging papers:

The burglary happened April 27, 2011.

Passmore rented a U-Haul and parked it outside Tacoma Metals, 1754 Thorne Rd. He and an associate then threw 600 pounds of brass valves and radiators over the fence and hauled them away.

They later sold them as scrap metal to a local company and received $1,500.
