Drunken felon allegedly pulls gun at Tacoma tavern after losing shoving match

The 62-year-old man pulled out a handgun and began waving it around after losing a shoving match in a bar, Tacoma police said.

Among other problems with this scenario, the man is legally barred from carrying a gun because he pleaded guilty to aggravated assault in another state and is now a felon.

The intoxicated man told officers he carried the weapon for protection.

The incident happened around midnight at a tavern in the 3800 block of Pacific Avenue. Police said he was arrested shortly after the shoving match at another nearby bar. The gun was seized after being found on the ground.
