A Joint-Base Lewis McChord soldier has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole after pleading guilty to stabbing his wife to death and raping her daughter.

A military judge has also ordered Staff Sgt. Robert Chiaravallotti to forfeit all pay and reduced his rank to private, according to the Army.

Chiaravallotti, 42, pleaded guilty to murder, rape of a child and assault of a child Thursday. The attack occurred on base Aug. 25.

The military said Chiaravallotti stabbed his wife, 39-year-old Dionne Chiaravallotti, after telling her about sexual acts with her 14-year-old daughter. He told the court that after playing footage of his stepdaughter stripping, his wife came at him and he stabbed her.

The stabbing was not self-defense, he admitted.

Moments after killing his wife, Chiaravallotti told his stepdaughter he loved her and then he raped her.
