Human remains found in Federal Way near Northeast Tacoma

The remains of a man were found in a wooded area in Federal Way Thursday night, police said.

A young boy playing in the area found a femur bone in the 36000 block of 20th Avenue Southwest near Northeast Tacoma. When police investigated this morning, they found human remains about 100 feet from the femur.

It’s unknown if foul play is suspected.

Police spokeswoman Cathy Schrock said it will take some time to determine the man’s identification and what killed him.

The King County Medical Examiner’s Office and anthropologist were called to remove the remains.
