Firefighters were dispatched just after 6 p.m. to a reported 2-car, head-on collision in the 2000 block of 214th Avenue East, near Lake Tapps, according to the union that represents East Pierce Fire & Rescue  crews.

The crash appeared to involve an SUV and Sedan, according to IAFF Local 3520.

An occupant of the sedan suffered serious injuries, and an occupant of the SUV was treated for minor injures, according to the union.

The union reports that the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department is investigating, and that 214th Avenue East will be closed for two to three hours as deputies work.

Sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer said the injuries were not expected to be life-threatening, and confirmed that the road is closed.
