Tacoma home suffers two fires on Valentine’s Day

There were not one, but two fires at a Tacoma home Thursday.

A cooking oil fire first plagued the residents at their home in the 7200 block of East F Street. After putting it out, they left for a while and came home to notice oddities.

The house was particularly warm and paint was bubbling on the ceiling and wall next to the kitchen.

Firefighters responded about 9:10 p.m. and found flames in the attic space above the kitchen, where the cooking oil fire apparently ignited the framing in the attic.

Damages were estimated at $20,000, according to the Tacoma Fire Department.

No one was injured.
