Tacoma police are investigating an early morning shooting that seriously injured one man.

The incident occurred about 1:20 a.m. at a gas station in the 8200 block of South Hosmer Street.

Two women were fighting and a man stepped in to break them up, police said. Then another man drove up.

The victim “was trying to physically stop them from fighting when the guy got out of another car and started shooting at him,” police spokeswoman Loretta Cool said.

The shooter allegedly kept firing even as the victim tried to run away.

He is listed in serious condition at the hospital but is expected to survive.

Investigators are trying to determine whether the shooter knew the victim and what started the fight. Nobody has been arrested.
