A woman was hit and killed about 6:30 p.m. by a southbound Sounder train in Puyallup, according to police.

Puyallup police Capt. Scott Engle said the woman was struck while walking north at 15th St. Southeast and East Pioneer Avenue, and that she didn’t appear to attempt to move out of the way of the train.

Train service and both roads are shut down at the intersection, he said.

Sound Transit said the trains departing Seattle at 5:40 p.m. and 6:15 p.m. were delayed on the way to Lakewood due to a medical emergency, and that buses would take passengers south from the Sumner station.

Check back for updates.

  1. She was walking South, Not North.
I saw her last 4 steps, 2 normal, then 2 long strides.
I watched this as I sit at the Red light, about 50 ft away.
