A man pleaded guilty to charges that he robbed his Tacoma bank last year.

Robert Rios Jr., 55, entered a guilty plea to the lesser charge of first-degree theft, and was sentenced Jan. 25 to 90 days in custody, which he was set to start serving through home detention Feb. 8.

He was originally charged with first-degree robbery.

According to the original charging papers:

Rios entered the Chase Bank he uses near North 26th and North Pearl streets Nov. 19th, handed the teller a note that said “This is a robbie?” and insisted repeatedly he was not joking. She recognized him as a customer.

He was apologetic, she said. She gave him money and he left.

When officers found him nearby, he said he had messed up and asked them “How much did I get?”

Rios was ordered not to have any contact with Chase Bank.
