Tacoma firefighters responded at 3:43 a.m. to a commercial structure fire at South 26th and A streets, where they found flames and smoke showing from outside 14,823 square foot building.

No one was found inside and no injuries were reported.

The cause of the blaze is not known, but the flames originated from a “homeless type shelter” in an alcove of the building, Tacoma Fire officials said.

Damage is estimated at $12,500.
