Officers broke up a fight of 30 to 40 people overnight outside a nightclub in the 6400 block of Sixth Avenue, according to Tacoma police.

The people involved appeared to be gang members and active duty military personnel, officers said.

Two suspects were arrested for investigation of fighting in public, and one person was arrested for investigation of third-degree assault after officers said he hit a policeman in the jaw.

The officer suffered a laceration and was treated by firefighters, according to police.
