From The Fresno Bee:
A Tacoma man suspected of ramming a Pacific Gas & Electric worker in Fresno, Calif. Friday had been reported missing by his wife two weeks prior, according to the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office.
The worker is out of the hospital, Community Regional Medical Center officials confirmed Tuesday.
Rayshawn Neely, 37, of Madera, was struck and seriously injured when he was pinned between the driver’s car and a PG&E truck while he was doing routine utility work near Marks and McKinley avenues west of Highway 99.
Deputies arrested Jett Simmons McBride, 54, of Tacoma, Wash., at the scene after he assaulted a nurse who had come to Neely’s aid, the Sheriff’s Office said. He was detained by Neely’s coworkers and a hitchhiker he picked up earlier in the day. The hitchhiker described using the blunt end of a hatchet to knock McBride out.
No other details about McBride’s past were released by the Sheriff’s Office.
He was booked on suspicion of attempted murder.
