Man arrested for kicking service dog, shoving woman at Lakewood motel

A 40-year-old man was arrested outside a Lakewood motel Monday night on suspicion of drunkenly shoving a woman and kicking her service dog, police said.

The assault took place outside the Fort Lewis Motel, 12215 Pacific Highway Southwest, where both the woman and man were guests. Surveillance video captured the incident.

Lt. Chris Lawler said the man confronted the woman – whom he did not know – and accused her of stealing his jeans from the motel laundry room. During the conversation, the service dog sniffs the man’s leg and walks away.

The man allegedly kicked the dog and shoved the woman to the ground before stalking off.

He was booked into Pierce County Jail on suspicion of second-degree animal cruelty and assault.
