UPDATE as of 2:22 p.m. East Pierce crews responded to a home in a small housing development between South Prairie and Orting at 12:30 p.m. A man with possibly life-threatening injuries was taken to a trauma center, and a woman was taken to a local hospital with non life-threatening injuries, according to East Pierce.

The Pierce County Sheriff’s Department was investigating, spokesman Ed Troyer said. He did not provide specifics about the incident Sunday.

INITIAL POST: The Pierce County Sheriff’s Department and East Pierce Fire are on scene of a stabbing in the 21800 block of 167th Street Court East, near South Prairie.

East Pierce Fire says there are two victims — a man with a stab wound and a woman with facial injuries. Both patients were taken to Tacoma General Hospital for treatment.

East Pierce said, according to authorities, it appears to be a “mutual assault.”
